General rules for computer-Go

All programs are supposed to be able to connect to KGS and their operators are supposed to be able to take care of connections with KGS. An internet connection will be available. On the EGC site, there's no room for clusters or non-standard computers.

Remote computing is allowed.

All computer-Go events (9x9, 13x13, 19x19) will use the following standard rules:

  • Chinese rules;
  • komi 7.5;
  • the standard KGS way of handling time will be used, except for phantom-Go.

However, if a program is unable to connect to KGS for a too long time, the referee can decide that the program has lost its current game.

The time settings is 15 minutes per side in 9x9, 30 minutes per side in 13x13, and 45 minutes per side in 19x19, plus the byo-yomi; a canadian time will be used (15:00+10/00:20 in 9x9, 30:00+10/00:20 in 13x13, 45:00+10/00:20 in 19x19).

In case of trouble in the KGS counting of the score, the human referee is allowed to change the result - the situation on the board as the priority.

Jean-Baptiste Hoock, Fabien Teytaud and Olivier Teytaud will take care of the organization, but the referee in case of trouble is Simon Billouet. The referee is the ultimate reference for all troubles in the competition.

The referee can request to see the logs of the program. He can request the expertise of anyone for making his decision.
